Hello friends! Let’s pretend we are sitting here together, having coffee and enjoying some time just being in each others’ presence. I hope you are having a wonderfully relaxing weekend, doing all the things you want to be doing. I’ve been spending most of the weekend alternating between taking care of myself and taking care of the various sick people in my household. We’ve been hit hard by illness, and there’s been at least one sick person in our house for the past 6 weeks or so, largely influenza and pneumonia. So far, I’ve managed to avoid it, but I feel like knocking on wood while I type this so I don’t jinx myself.
I’ve also been feeling the same mix of hope, trepidation, anger, gratitude, and despair that many of us have been feeling lately. We are heading into a hard season, y’all, and it’s going to be essential that we allow ourselves to feel whatever is coming up for us. All of those feelings are normal and understandable, and the best thing we can do for ourselves is process the emotions as they arise. Give them space, but don’t necessarily react from them. Our emotions have power, and we have the option to use them to move us towards our healing and empowerment. There’s enough hate out there already, we don’t need to add to it.
This month’s podcast is a conversation between me and Leo, and part of our conversation is about how we can use our reaction to the election to advocate for the world we want to live in, in a healthy and empowering way. We don’t have to attack “the other side”. We can make changes out of kindness and empathy, both towards the people we are wanting to protect, and the people we are seeing as hurting them.
We also update you on what we are working on creatively, and a little bit about creating an intentional holiday season that is as enjoyable for you as it is for everyone else in your family.
One of the creative projects I mention is my new store, where I have put up a few designs on t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, and other products. It’s been a challenge to learn graphic arts, but I’m proud of what I have created so far. You can check out what I have so far here.
A few housekeeping details: Leo was newly recovering from double pneumonia when we recorded this, so the audio is a little funky a couple times because he was coughing. Second, after this episode, all of them will be behind the paywall, so if you are wanting to keep listening and are currently not a paid subscriber, you might want to consider updating your subscription. Third, we will not put out an episode next month, so we can have a bit more space for focusing on spending the holidays with our family.
I think that’s it. Thank you all for subscribing, reading, and listening. You are amazing, and I am so grateful for each one of you. I hope you enjoy the episode!
Love, Amy
